Alvimedica to establish Heart Center in Split
Friday 28 March 2014 Istanbul: Alvimedica, Turkey based medical device company in interventional cardiology, is currently engaged in efforts to establish a Research and Training Hospital in Split, Croatia; an endeavor that will set it apart from other pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing companies. Named Alvimedica Heart Center, the hospital is scheduled to open in September 2014, will serve as a training center for European, African and Middle Eastern physicians working in the specialities of interventional cardiology and heart surgery.
Alvimedica has commenced construction of the hospital recently of which is to be built on an 11,000 square meter area in Split. Alvimedica Heart Center is designed to be a state of the art, 54-bed facility with the latest cutting edge technologies and will house two operating rooms, two catheter laboratories, and a hybrid operating room.
Cem Bozkurt, Alvimedica CEO, highlights that although the hospital is located in Split, it will not only be serving Croatian patients: “Croatia’s location, being at the very center of Europe, has been crucial in our site selection. This location will allow to easily serve North Africa, Russia, Middle East and all of Europe and will give us the great opportunity to host physicians and patients from a variety of countries across the world”
Underlining the fact that the Split hospital will have the capabilities of carrying out hybrid surgeries, one of the latest innovations in heart surgery, CEO Bozkurt states: “Our hospital will not only use those devices that we ourselves manufacture. We will be closely monitoring all of the recent developments in cardiology in order to provide services based on the latest technologies. The hybrid operating theater we’re building in the hospital, stands out as one prominent facility. This type of operating room requires a very significant technological infrastructure that allows a cardiologist and a heart surgeon to simultaneously carry out procedures. Therefore, while the surgeon is doing a by-pass, the cardiologist will be able to implant a stent through the patient’s groin.”
The purpose of the Alvimedica Heart Center is to provide the most advanced technological services in both training physicians and diagnosis and treatment of most complex cardiological diseases, making it a truly unique heart center. Physicians from all around the world are welcomed to Alvimedica Heart Center, where they can attend training programs including theoretical education, practical training at the facility's simulation center and training on live cases supervised by the globally renowned physicians. Furthermore, the conference and the simulation center facilities within the hospital will enable regular training programmes for different sizes of groups.
